Tip 1: MAKE YOUR GUESTS FEEL TAKEN CARE OF

Your guests will have come from all over to celebrate your big day! There are many ways to make your guest feel welcome and loved, such as play the special songs between you and your guests, providing personalized welcome notes at the reception tables to each couple and individual.

Tip 2: BALANCE WHAT YOU LOVE WITH WHAT YOUR GUESTS LOVE.

When putting together your wedding, the goal is to balance what you love, as well as what your multi-generational guest love as well. That may mean mixing some Motown into your indie rock playlist of wedding reception songs, or it may mean having board games and a cocktail hour. Timing is so important for a wedding, and if I had to pick the number one rule for all weddings, it would be this: feed people on time and making sure there is enough food in the right time. Hangry guests are not happy guests. However, we know things will not always go as we planned it, so to have a good DJ/MC to keep your guests entertained is very important to take care of your event!

Tip 4: THINK OF YOUR RECEPTION AS A PARTY.

Chances are really good that you know how to throw a party that’s fun for you and your people. I can’t tell you what your perfect entertainment recipe is since ideas of fun are not universal. But the trick is figuring out what makes you love a party, and then try to incorporate that into your wedding. Sometimes having a playlist that shows your personality makes for a more memorable memory for you and your guest, so making sure the DJ plays the right music is crucial.

Tip 5: LET PEOPLE KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT.

Guests are surprisingly good at rolling with the (non-traditional wedding) punches, as long as they know what they’re getting into upfront. If you’re having a reception where you’re only serving cake and punch, let people know on the invite. They’ll come with full stomachs, ready to have a good time. Also letting your guest know your wedding theme is important for them to be part of your event, like your playlist, outfit, etc. Use your invitation or wedding website, if you have one, to let your guests know in advance what they can expect.
